Casino Royale is the 21st James Bond film and is the first to star Daniel Craig as the character of James Bond. The film is based on the 1953 same name novel of Ian Flemming, actually is the third adaptation (from book to screen).

Casino Royale (2006) was produced by Eon Productions for Metro - Goldwyn - Mayer and Columbia Pictures ans it’s the first time that Columbia Pictures particpates as co - producer in a James Bond Film.

1. Casting Daniel Craig for the part of James Bond.

Pierce Brosnan had a four film contract when he had been chosen to play the part of the famous MI6 agent. With the film Die another Day (2002) Pierce Brosnan had fulfilled all his obligation related to James Bond film series. Pierce Brosnaa was already 50 years old and the producers started to look for a younger actor to play the part of James Bond.

According to producers there was a list of 200 candidates for the James Bond role. Daniel Craig was chosen among other candidates like the Croatian Goran Visnjik, Henry Cavil and Sam Worthington.

On 14 October 2005, Eon Productions, Sony Pictures Enterntainment and MGM announced officially in London at a press conference that the sixth actor to portray James Bond will be Daniel Craig.

There were negative voices against the producers decision to chose Daniel Craig to be the sixth actor to play the role of the legendary MI6 secret agent.  Internet campaigns like danielcraigisnotbond.com were organized threatening to boycot the film. Fans had used the image of previous actors, Daniel Craig was not tall, dark, and handsome his image was different. There were also newspaper front pages against Daniel Craig.

In my opinion, it was unfair. Daniel is a great actor and cinema is an artistic area where pluralism can be cultivated.

Daniel Craig started his preparation, he studied all James Bond novels and according to rumors he found helpful advices from the technical advisors of Munich (Steven Spielberg, 2005), ex - Mossad and British Secret Service agents.

Casino Royale was shot at the Barrandov Studios in Praque - Czech Republic with additional location shooting in the Bahamas , Italy and United Kingdom. The Casino Royale finished a Pinewood Studios.  Shooting of Csaino Royale started on 3 January 2006 and finished in 20 July 2006.
